Privacy Policy

Applies to the MovieBay Android app and this website. Last updated 5 November 2026.

MovieBay is a media browser and player for Android. This policy explains what the app stores, what leaves your device, and what you can switch off. The short version: you can use MovieBay without an account, your library stays on your phone, and crash reporting is optional.

1. What stays on your device

The app keeps the following in its private storage on your phone:

  • Cinema Coins balance and daily check-in state.
  • Watch history and My List — the titles you opened, saved or resumed.
  • Downloads — the files you queued, their progress, and the finished videos you keep offline.
  • Preferences — playback quality, audio boost, Wi-Fi-only downloads, subtitle style and update settings.
  • Signed-in profile — if you choose Google sign-in, the app caches your display name and email locally so the Me screen can show them.

Uninstalling MovieBay deletes this data. Downloads saved to your gallery are ordinary files and remain until you delete them.

2. Accounts and sign-in

No account is required. Streaming, searching and downloads work as a guest.

Google sign-in is optional. When you sign in, Google handles the authentication flow and returns a basic profile (name, email, account identifier) to the app. MovieBay uses it to show your profile and to pay the one-time +100 coin welcome bonus once per Google account. MovieBay does not receive your Google password, and the app does not send your profile to a MovieBay server.

3. Crash reports

MovieBay uses Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash and stability reports, so repeating crashes can be found and fixed. A report can include the Android version, device model, app version and a stack trace.

Crash reporting is on by default and can be turned off at any time in Settings → About → Send crash reports. When it is off, the app does not send new crash reports.

4. Advertising and rewards

Rewards in the Cinema Vault use Unity Ads. When you choose to watch a sponsor video, Unity may collect device and advertising identifiers as described in Unity's own privacy policy. MovieBay only awards coins after Unity confirms the video was watched to the end; there are no pop-up or interstitial ads in the app.

The app asks Unity for a rewarded video only when you tap the reward button. Declining or closing a video early awards nothing.

5. Network requests

To show the catalogue, posters, subtitles and video streams, the app requests data from third-party media services. Those services receive standard technical information such as your IP address and the title you requested, under their own privacy policies. MovieBay does not host or own that catalogue.

The in-app updater checks a small version file hosted with this site. That request includes your IP address and current app version, nothing else.

6. This website

This is a static download page. It does not set advertising cookies, run analytics, or ask you to create an account. The hosting provider may keep standard access logs (IP address, requested file, timestamp) for security and reliability.

7. Children

MovieBay is not directed at children under 13. Content supplied by third-party services may not be suitable for younger viewers, and the app does not verify age.

8. Your choices

  • Use the app as a guest — Google sign-in is never required.
  • Turn off crash reports in Settings.
  • Clear watch history, My List and downloads from inside the app.
  • Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data.
  • Skip sponsor videos; rewards are optional.

9. Changes to this policy

If the app's data handling changes, this page is updated and the date at the top changes. The same policy is available inside the app under Settings → About → Privacy policy.

10. Content disclaimer

MovieBay is a media browser and player. Catalogue data and video links come from third-party services. MovieBay does not host, upload or own that content, and is not responsible for its availability or legality in your country.

Questions about privacy? The quickest route is the in-app Settings → About section, where crash reporting can be turned off and the policy is always available offline.
